Footage broadcast by Saudi state television showed US President Joe Biden avoiding shaking hands with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during a visit to Saudi Arabia, while Washington seeks to restore relations between the two countries.
During the visit, Biden is expected to discuss human rights, one of several issues that caused a rift in relations between Riyadh and Washington after US intelligence services concluded that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman gave direct approval for the 2018 killing of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The crown prince denies any role in Khashoggi’s killing.
