Relatives of people missing after Thursday’s missile strikes on the central Ukrainian town of Vinnytsia have provided DNA samples to help officials identify the dead, according to Ukraine’s police chief.
“Fourteen relatives of the missing persons provided their biological samples,” Ihor Klimenko, head of the Ukrainian National Police, said in a Facebook statement.
Klimenko added: “Our specialists have already performed more than 200 comparisons of selected DNA samples. Of the 19 individuals identified with the help of rapid DNA recognition technology, 12 were identified.
Klimenko said eight people are still missing.
