Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – December 27, 2020 – Policy
Olena Shulyak, a People’s Deputy from the Servant of the People faction, proposes to fine politicians who do not speak Ukrainian in their public speeches.
She said this on the air of Ukraine 24 channel, commenting on the initiatives of her colleagues to abolish fines for non-state language in the field of services.
According to her, the language issue can always split society in half and allow individual politicians to earn bonuses. Shulyak noted that she would like “politicians, people’s deputies, ministers and other civil servants to use the Ukrainian language when performing their official duties.
“And maybe I would be so radical – I would also propose the introduction of fines for politicians. They do not always speak the state language, which, in my opinion, needs protectioni1 ,” said a representative of the SN faction.
