The PT-91 Twardy is a Polish main battle tank based on a license variant of the Soviet T-72M1. The first prototypes were produced in 1993. The basic version of the PT-91 was serially produced at the “Bumar-Labenda” enterprise from 1995 to 2002. A total of 232 PT-91s were produced for the Polish Armed Forces.
The tank is equipped with protection using active armor developed by ERAWA. Such active armor consists of almost 400 protective blocks that cover the front part of the hull and the turret. The blocks are located almost without gaps from each other.
