“There was a whole series of objects there, the main one was the Mezhyhirya government residence, around which all these schemes were built, which are currently being investigated by our anti-corruption authorities. But when we started announcing the monument, I decided to look , as it will be correctly called – the Mezhyhirya park-monument of horticultural art of national significance. Since the end of 2021, we have been actively working on solving this issue,” said Nemchinov.

The Ministry of Ecology will manage the park. In the future, it is possible to create an agency that will manage the nature conservation fund, in particular, the future nature reserve on the basis of the government residence.
Nemchinov also added that the new status of “Mezhihirya” will enable the residence to function, and all citizens will be able to access it.

“Mezhhirya” was the private residence of the fourth president Viktor Yanukovych in 2002–2014. After his escape from Ukraine in 2014, Mezhihirya was opened to the public. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution on the return of “Mezhyhirya” to state ownership.
At the end of December last year, the pre-trial investigation into the suspicion of the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and his son in the illegal possession of the “Mezhyhirya” residence was completed.
