A “Vedomosti” source close to one of the operators called the quarterly sales of new smartphones “the lowest in decades.” In rubles, this indicator, according to his assessment, has decreased “to the level of the pandemic year of 2020.”
As reported, according to MTS and Beeline estimates, about 4.5 million smartphones worth 103 billion rubles were sold in the Russian Federation during this period. MTS said that sales fell by 30% by 2021 both in terms of the number of devices sold and in monetary terms, at Tele2 – by 23% and 12%. “Megaphone” recorded a 17% drop in sales by number of smartphones.
Other features of smartphone sales in the second quarter include an increase in the share of Chinese devices and an increase in the segment of used devices.
