NGO “Women of Steel” discussed the issue of searching for missing persons and access to prisoners with representatives of the authorities. The participants had the opportunity to personally ask questions to the authorized adviser of the President of Ukraine on issues of ensuring the rights of defenders of Ukraine Alyona Verbytskyi, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko, the adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Herashchenko, the head of the Department of the Organization of the Investigation of Crimes Committed in Conditions of Armed Conflict, GSU NPU Khrystyna Podyryako, her deputy Dmytro Shevchuk and department head Ihor Malysh.
They discussed the issue of searching for missing persons and access to prisoners in the occupied territories and in the Russian Federation, the specifics of conducting criminal investigations regarding prisoners of war and missing persons, problematic issues of communication between relatives and law enforcement officers, as well as the specifics of conducting DNA examinations.
The NGO ” Women of Steel ” was founded by wives and mothers of Ukrainian soldiers from “Azovstal”. The organization aims to contribute to the creation of decent conditions for prisoners of war. The NGO also works on solving humanitarian issues and public control over the observance of the rights of prisoners provided for by the Geneva Conventions.
