“Ukraine would not participate in any agreements if it was not confident in its ability to protect the southern region from attacks from the Black Sea. According to the “grain” agreement, the UN and Turkey undertook to ensure the implementation of the agreement by Russia,” – the statement says.
Details
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Ukraine has completed the necessary preparations for the restoration of safe grain exports and is waiting for appropriate steps from other parties. “The security situation is controlled by the Armed Forces,” the embassy emphasized.
“In the current conditions, there are no easy solutions, but Congresswoman Victoria Spartz’s attempt to undermine the grain agreement with her next statement right now is to deal a devastating blow to Ukrainian farmers and the economy, which need exports and income, as well as undermine global food security,” – noted in statement
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for “a critical attitude to attempts to throw another “betrayal” into the Ukrainian information space, which pursues only two goals: to sow discord in Ukraine and harm Ukraine’s relations with its closest international partners.”
Before
Congresswoman Victoria Spartz appealed to UN Secretary General António Guterres, urging him to suspend the “grain agreement” “until better security measures are provided for Ukraine.”
This is not the first statement Spartz has made that has caused a reaction. Thus, Spartz issued a statement criticizing the head of the President’s Office, and also advocated greater US oversight of arms supplies to Ukraine. At the same time, the co-founder of the Ukraine Support Group in Congress, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, released a statement in support of President Zelenskyi and members of the president’s office. On July 9, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine commented on Spartz’s previous letter. According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleg Nikolenko, Ukraine is “deeply grateful” to the USA for its support in countering Russian aggression, against the background of which the statements of the congresswoman contrast.
