“Our delegation had the distinct privilege of meeting with President Tsai Ing-wen of Taiwan today. We discussed how America and Taiwan can deepen our economic ties, further strengthen our security partnership, and protect our shared democratic values,” Pelosi said.
Pelosi was also presented with an order as a symbol of friendship between the United States and Taiwan.
“America remains steadfast in its commitment to the people of Taiwan – now and for decades to come,” she added.
In addition, the congressional delegation met with the vice president of the legislature in Taipei.
“We have reaffirmed our ironclad support for Taiwan’s democracy, including issues of security and stability, economic growth and governance,” Pelosi concluded.
