US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken congratulated the first grain ship that left Ukraine and safely crossed the Black Sea.

“We congratulate the first grain ship that left Ukraine and safely crossed the Black Sea. We highly appreciate the UN and Turkey’s efforts to deliver Ukrainian grain to those suffering from food insecurity,” Blinken wrote.

The US ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, also added that the first ship to leave Ukrainian ports since the start of the Russian war had just passed inspection and was now on its way to Lebanon with 26,000 metric tons of corn. The representative of the country assured that the USA will monitor each ship to make sure that Russia will comply with its obligations.
“Ukraine is ready to send 16 more ships that are blocked in the ports of Chornomorsk, Odesa and Pivdenny. People around the world are waiting for all parties to honor their commitments to deliver this food to those who need it,” Brink said on Twitter .

The first ship with grain arrived in Istanbul on the evening of August 2. It left the port of Odessa on August 1. The ship Razoni under the flag of Sierra Leone is carrying 26,000 tons of corn to Lebanon.
