During his visit to Ukraine, Reisalu met with the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. According to him, the parties agreed that Estonia will help Ukraine to reach an international agreement that the political and military leadership of Russia should bear not only military, but also legal responsibility.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia noted that the second question is whether it will be possible to “get” top leaders from Russia, for example, Putin.
“But it is clear that the diplomatic immunity of the head of state does not extend to those who carry out genocide. Humanity needs a new Nuremberg,” he said.
Reinsalu also emphasized that countries that want to return to normal relations with Russia and Putin as soon as possible should realize that this is not a normal situation in which relations can be normalized.
“This is genocide and communication at the usual high level with politicians who carry out genocide cannot be the new normal. Therefore, the concept of legal responsibility is needed, it should determine the rules of our relations or their absence with Russia,” he said.
