The island’s forces will hold anti-aircraft drills in the southern Pingdong County on Tuesday and Thursday, Taiwan’s military said.
“We will rehearse countermeasures against simulated enemy attacks on Taiwan,” Eighth Army Corps spokesman Lu Wei-jhe told AFP.
According to army officials, the exercise will include the deployment of hundreds of servicemen and about 40 howitzers.

Despite calls for an end to military drills around the island, Beijing resumed joint air and naval exercises on Monday following US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taipei last week.
The island regularly hosts military exercises simulating a Chinese invasion, and last month practiced repelling attacks from the sea in a “joint interception operation” as part of its biggest annual exercise.
