Education ombudsman Serhii Gorbachev published the results of a survey on his Facebook page , for which reasons parents chose one or another form of education for their children from September 1.

Most parents chose distance learning. 30% of the interviewed parents answered that they do not consider the basement in the educational institution to be a suitable shelter that can save the child’s life and health, another 11% of the interviewed – because the institution lacks any shelter. 18% of respondents said that they chose distance learning because the educational institution where the child studies is located in or near a war zone. And 1.5% chose this form due to the fact that the institution is located in the temporarily occupied territory. Another 13% of parents “chose” distance learning, because the educational institution has determined that it will carry out the educational process remotely.
10% of parents said that they chose face-to-face education for their child, because they consider it the best for acquiring knowledge and developing the child. 4% believe that the place where they live is quiet and safe, so the child can study full-time, and another 4% – because they know that there is a shelter in the educational institution, and during an air raid the child will be in a shelter under supervision teacher, which will be safer for her than at home.
2% of parents indicated that the full-time form of education was determined by the educational institution, and 0.5% were convinced that since their child has special educational needs, in the conditions of martial law it is best for him to get an education full-time in an educational institution. 0.5% believe that since their child has special educational needs, in the conditions of war it is best for him to receive education in an individual form.
0.3% are convinced that they can teach their child on their own, therefore they chose a family form of education for them. Another 0.2% believe that the child can master the educational program on his own, so they chose an external form of education for him.
Among those who could not decide on the reasons why they chose this or that form of education – 5%.

25,230 parents of students in Ukraine took part in the survey. Of them, parents: schoolchildren – 89% of respondents; pupils of preschool education institutions – 8.2%; graduates of institutions of professional preliminary higher education -1.2%; vocational (vocational and technical) education recipients – 0.5%; institutions of higher education – 1%.
