Context
On July 12, U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Russia had asked Iran to provide it with “hundreds” of combat drones for use in the war against Ukraine. He added that it is not yet known whether the country has already delivered any UAVs to russia.
The White House subsequently released information that Russian officials had visited Iran to inspect combat drones.
On July 19, the US State Department announced that Washington would impose sanctions on Iran if the country supplied russia with combat drones.
