“During the interception period – until the end of the year – antibiotics will be released using both electronic and paper prescriptions. In the temporarily occupied territories and in the war zone, antibiotics can be obtained without a prescription,” the PHC said.
How to get a prescription for an antibiotic
- A prescription for antibiotics is prescribed by the doctor who prescribes treatment. This applies to both doctors of communal and private medical institutions.
- The recipe is written not on the trade name of the antibiotic, but on the active substance. The doctor will indicate the dosage form and dosage. Also, the doctor will print an information certificate to the e-prescription with the method of use and the duration of the antibiotic. This certificate must be approved by the signature and seal of the doctor.
- If a patient is treated in a hospital, then all drugs, including antibiotics, from the National List of Essential Medicines and in accordance with industry standards are received free of charge and without a prescription.
- Only in exceptional cases, the doctor can prescribe a prescription for an antibiotic, which is not in the National List. Then this antibiotic must be purchased at the pharmacy. Writing a prescription for antibiotics from the National List will be a violation of the terms of the contract with the NHSU.
- The prescription for antibiotics is valid for 30 days. You can buy an antibiotic at any pharmacy. To do this, it is enough to show the pharmacist an information certificate or a paper prescription. The pharmacy employee will offer the available trade names for antibiotics with the active ingredient indicated in the prescription. After the prescription is repaid, the pharmacist will mark “Released” on the document and return it to the patient. There is no need to store paper references and recipes.
Supplement
Self-medication with antibiotics and their uncontrolled intake causes bacteria to be resistant to the effects of drugs. Because of this, many infectious diseases that are now amenable to treatment can become dangerous. That is why in Ukraine, as in many other countries, antibiotics are released only by prescription, and from August 1 – by electronic.
