“We must be prepared for any situation, even the worst… We should review and put all evacuation plans in order as soon as possible, check the availability of means of protection for our residents. It is precisely because of the unpredictability of our enemy that we must urgently work out effective plans with real points evacuation, by all means and transport,” emphasized Oleksandr Starukh, head of the Zaporizhzhia OVA.
Details
The OVA noted that currently, due to the provocations of the invaders and deliberate shelling from their side, the Zaporizhzhia NPP has damaged the power grid. As a result of shelling, the station operates with the risk of emergency situations and fires.
“Due to the potential danger, there is an urgent need to take measures to reduce the possible consequences of man-made hazards associated with the situation at the Zaporizhzhya NPP, in particular, to clarify the forces and means that may be involved in the liquidation of the consequences of an emergency (fire units, medical personnel, national police, etc. ), clarification of the plan for evacuation, reception and placement of the evacuated population in case of a threat of occurrence or occurrence of an accident at the Zaporizhzhya NPP, taking into account the introduction of martial law and the operational situation,” the OVA said in a statement.
The issue of creating a reserve of specialized drugs that will partially help people protect themselves from the worst consequences of possible radiation was also considered.
Thus, the Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations chaired by Starukh “unanimously agreed with the need to update the plans, which will now be adapted to modern conditions,” the OVA said.
The second issue under consideration by the commission was the allocation of funds for the laying of a new network, which will allow restoring the damaged electricity supply to the villages of the Vozdvizhiv community.
Addition
In the event of a nuclear emergency at the Zaporizhia NPP, 275,000 residents from the Kherson, Zaporizhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions are subject to evacuation.
It was talked about after several enemy shellings at the station on August 5 and 6.
