“The Ukrainian transport company reacted positively to the proposal of Slovnaft and MOL to pay transit fees for the transportation of oil through the southern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline. Slovnaft has already made the payment to the company’s account and expects that on the basis of this supply of oil will resume in the coming days. This decision was also agreed by the Russian party,” the Slovak company said in a statement .
The Hungarian MOL also agreed with the Ukrainian and Russian parties on the restoration of the Druzhba pipeline and transferred the transit fee for the use of the Ukrainian section of the pipeline, Telex writes .
“Having assumed the payment obligations, MOL ensured a quick solution to the problem: according to the promises of the Ukrainians, the supply of crude oil, which was stopped a few days ago due to technical obstacles on the part of the bank, may resume within a few days,” the message reads.
Context
On August 9, the Russian company “Transneft”, which carries out deliveries, reported that pumping was stopped due to non-payment of transit. According to the Russian company, “Ukrtransnafta” returned the payment to “Gazprombank”, referring to the seventh package of EU sanctions that came into force.
MOL and Slovnaft initiated discussions with the Ukrainian and Russian parties on the possibility of payment of the transit fee by the oil companies in order to resume oil supplies.
