The national carrier of the UAE, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, has announced the resumption of flights from Abu Dhabi to Moscow. Passengers can already purchase tickets for flights from October 3, 2022.
A representative of Wizz Air said that the company operates in accordance with the national rules and policies of the UAE.
“The airline is resuming its operations in Moscow to meet travel demand for passengers wishing to fly to and from Russia to the UAE capital. All UAE national airlines now operate direct flights to Russia,” he said.
At the same time, the representative noted that other subsidiary companies, Wizz Air Hungary and Wizz Air UK, currently do not fly to Russia, as flights from Great Britain and EU countries to Moscow are prohibited.
It is not yet known whether passengers will understand the difference between the airlines. Crisis PR consultant Mark Borkowski told CNN that Wizz’s competitors will be watching the move closely.
“Now we’re starting to see a number of brands start to test their resolve, and as things drag on, integrity signals will give way to commercial intent,” he said.
