Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – December 29, 2020 – Society
In 2020, 430 border guards from all over Ukraine completed their training at the Dog Training Center of the State Border Service – the only one in Ukraine where dog handlers and four-legged border guards are trained.
Among the graduates there are 125 conscripts-dog handlers, who are already guarding state borders, paired with four-legged assistants. Also, on the basis of the center, 9 representatives of other law enforcement agencies were trained, in particular, the UGO of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They also raised and prepared 58 puppies for service at the border.
Training of service dogs is carried out in two directions. Special service dogs – skillfully and accurately detect weapons, explosive substances, drugs and, more recently, tobacco products. Search service dogs – help to identify and detain violators, both at checkpoints and on the green section of the border. Such four-legged assistants are able to detect the intruder in vehicles and cargo and follow the trail for tens of kilometers.
The search for weapons and drugs, the detention of offenders – all this is the work of four-legged guards, without whom it is impossible to imagine daily service at the border. After all, a dog is not only a partner in the service, it is a loyal friend and reliable assistant.
