In his statement, Sergiy Kyslytsya said that the Russian military had deployed its equipment on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which is shelling Ukrainian cities and villages. Because of this practice, Russia resorts to lies and provocations. He stressed that Russia is known for its plans, lies and sabotage that the world can observe now and “draw conclusions.”
“Russia decided to go all-in and so decided to convene this meeting. This convocation looks cynical, given the recent attack on the nuclear power plant, which took place on August 11, which endangered both the station itself and the staff,” said Sergiy Kyslytsya.
The representative of Ukraine thanked the IAEA Director General for his speech and fully supports the IAEA mission to arrive at the Zaporizhia station and Ukraine will help with this.
“We welcome the readiness to send the IAEA mission to the occupied station, taking into account full compliance with Ukrainian legislation and international obligations. We express our readiness to provide the mission with everything necessary and to help make a trip through the territories controlled by Ukraine,” Kyslytsya said.
He stressed that Russian troops must stop shelling Nikopol and Manganese to ensure the security of this mission.

“On August 6, when the ZNPP was shelled, the Russian military, about 500 people and representatives of Rosatom took refuge in the bomb shelter in advance before the shelling began while the station workers were left to their own devices.
Russian military equipment was also hidden in advance in the first and second reactors. The shelling caused the destruction of three monitoring radiation detectors and other means that made it impossible to prevent and respond early in case of deterioration of the situation or release of radiation from the containers of used fuel,” Kyslytsya said.
In a statement, a Russian spokesman accused Ukraine of shelling a nuclear power plant in Enerhodar. He said the station was controlled by the Russian armed forces and assured that the Russian army was allegedly cooperating with the station’s personnel.
