According to him, the range of the missile is 290 kilometers. The Estonians can direct their missile fire to exactly any place in the Gulf of Finland.
The minister noted that the parties agreed on this on August 11, when Pevkur met in Helsinki with the head of the Finnish Defense Ministry, Antti Kaikkonen.
Before
Sweden and Finland officially applied for NATO membership on May 18. This decision was prompted by Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, which began on February 24.
Turkey, a longtime member of the alliance, has objected to their membership bids, criticizing the countries for supporting “terrorist groups”. After in-depth negotiations between the countries, Turkey declared that it would support the membership of Sweden and Finland in NATO at the summit in Madrid.
On June 29, NATO leaders officially invited Finland and Sweden to join the Alliance.
The US Senate has supported a resolution on the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO, thereby agreeing to President Joe Biden’s proposal.
