“We are concerned by reports that the occupation authorities in eastern Ukraine are accusing citizens of Great Britain, Sweden and Croatia. Russia and its proxies are bound by international humanitarian law, including the rights and protections afforded to prisoners of war,” Blinken wrote.
Addition
The “court” of the so-called “DNR” has received a new case regarding foreign soldiers from Sweden, Croatia and Great Britain who fought in the ranks of the Armed Forces and were captured.
As noted, at the beginning of June, the “court” of the self-proclaimed “DPR” sentenced to death two citizens of Great Britain, Sean Pinner and Aiden Aslin, as well as a citizen of the Kingdom of Morocco, Brahim Saadoun, on the same charge.
In addition, another person sentenced to death in the self-proclaimed republic, 45-year-old Briton Paul Urie, died on July 10 “due to illness.” He was detained at a checkpoint on April 25 along with 22-year-old Dylan Healy, a British volunteer. According to The Guardian, Paul Urie did not take part in combat and was a volunteer.
