The capital of the province of Quebec, located about 70 km north of the US border, decided to make the vaccine available to everyone.
Montreal authorities have decided to offer the vaccine to all those at risk to stop the spread of the virus.
Since the start of the vaccination campaign in mid-May, when the first cases of monkeypox were detected, 18,500 people have been vaccinated in Montreal, 13% of whom were foreigners.
The goal is to vaccinate about 75-80% of the population, including men who have sex with men or with multiple partners.
In the western province of British Columbia, health authorities decided last week that they would no longer offer the vaccine to foreigners, citing limited supplies and the fact that it is becoming increasingly available in the United States.
Faced with a shortage of available doses of the vaccine, US health authorities on Tuesday authorized a new injection procedure that would allow five times more people to be vaccinated with the same amount of the drug.
