President Putin told North Korean leader Kim Jong Un that Moscow and Pyongyang jointly ensure further build-up of the entire complex of constructive bilateral ties.

In a letter to Kim Jong Un on the occasion of Liberation Day celebrated in North Korea, Putin noted that closer relations are in the interests of both countries and will help strengthen security and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, the North Korean state agency CTAC reported.
Kim Jong Un sent a letter in response, in which he noted that the Russian-North Korean friendship began during the Second World War with the victory over Japan, which occupied the Korean Peninsula.
Strategic and tactical cooperation, support and solidarity between the two countries are rising to a new level” to eliminate threats and provocations from enemy military forces, Kim Jong-un said in a letter.
The CTAC did not specify what is meant by enemy forces, but the term is usually used in reference to the United States and its allies.
In July, North Korea recognized two self-proclaimed “LPR” and “DPR,” and officials raised the issue of sending North Korean workers to those areas to assist in construction and other jobs.
Ukraine, which resists Russia’s invasion, immediately severed relations with Pyongyang over the move.
