During the meeting of the UN Security Council, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Ireland to the organization, Kate Moran, said that the entire responsibility for creating a crisis situation at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant lies with Russia .

“Let’s call a spade a spade: the problems in Zaporizhzhia arise exclusively because of Russia’s illegal war against Ukraine. The Russian military created this crisis by illegally seizing and occupying the ZNPP and acting irresponsibly in Ukraine, which shows their complete disregard for nuclear safety,” she emphasized.
Moran also emphasized: “armed attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities are a violation of international law.”
“If Russia is sincere in its concerns about nuclear security in Zaporizhzhia, it must take responsibility and end its illegal occupation of the site by withdrawing its manpower and weapons. This will return control over the station to the competent authorities of Ukraine, which are supported by the IAEA,” she added.
