“Google’s subsidiary Jigsaw will launch a campaign next week to counter misinformation about Ukrainian refugees in Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, based on a study by psychologists from two British universities,” the statement said.
In collaboration with Jigsaw, psychologists from the universities of Cambridge and Bristol have created 90-second videos designed to “vaccinate” people against harmful content on social media.
“The videos, which will be shown in ad units on Google’s own YouTube platform, as well as on Twitter, TikTok and Facebook, are designed to help people detect emotional manipulation and scapegoats in news headlines,” the publication writes.
The goal of the campaign is to “build resilience to anti-immigration narratives in partnership with local NGOs, academics, and experts in the field of disinformation.”
The information campaign is expected to last one month.
