From November, narcotic drugs in pharmacies will begin to be dispensed by electronic prescription, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported .

A transition period for medical institutions is also envisaged. Doctors of institutions that are connected to the e-health system will be required to prescribe these drugs by electronic prescriptions. And in the absence of connection to the EES – on paper with the use of special prescription forms of form No. 3.
At the same time, for the release of such drugs by e-prescription, pharmacies that have the appropriate license to dispense narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors must necessarily register with the EHR.
Thus, with the issuance of an electronic prescription, the patient will receive an SMS with the prescription number and a unique repayment code, which he must inform the pharmacist at the pharmacy to receive prescription drugs.
The Ministry of Health explained that in this way in Ukraine access to the necessary medicines for patients requiring complex treatment in accordance with medical indications is simplified, as well as control over the release of drugs containing narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances from pharmacies is further strengthened.
Thus, from November, the second stage of the introduction of an electronic prescription for the release of prescription drugs will start working in Ukraine. The next step – the introduction of an electronic prescription for all prescription drugs – is expected in 2023, the Ministry of Health noted.
