The preliminary consent of the Government of the United States of America was obtained to accept the candidacies of the new Ambassador of Ukraine. Yes, it is known that the position was given to ex-Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova.
“The Ukrainian side has already received an agreement (consent) to appoint Oksana Markarova Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, at the same time the final decision will be made by the President of Ukraine,” – said in a statement the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The minister said he was looking forward to increased support for the new US administration. According to him, Ukraine is already receiving signals that it will “be one of the priorities of the United States.”
Dmytro Kuleba, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spoke about how Ukraine can join NATO without providing an Action Plan for membership in the alliance. Previously, this plan was considered mandatory. Now Kuleba says that the Plan should be provided to both Ukraine and Georgia if it can accelerate the countries’ accession to the alliance. But he also emphasizes that there is another way – to achieve the necessary indicators without a MAP. The Ukrainian side is ready to discuss such a scenario as well.
