The competition for the election of the head of the National Anti-corruption Bureau may end in 3 months. It will start on September 22. Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Smirnov informed journalists about this .

“On September 22, the competition for the election of the director of NABU should begin. Taking into account all the procedures, it seems to me that it should be completed within three months, approximately,” said Smirnov.

He noted that the terms of the commission’s work and the date of the election of the director of NABU depend on the work regulations adopted by the competition commission and the stages of the competition, interviews, how long they will last, as well as whether there will be a need for additional interviews.
“Guided by cautious optimism, I count on the fact that this competition can easily be completed in three months,” said Smirnov.
The head of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, Oleksandr Novikov, expressed hope that Ukraine will have a head of NABU by the end of the year.

Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleg Nemchinov stated that the election of the new director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine can take place within two months from the first official meeting of the competition commission.
Context
The post of NABU director has been vacant since April .
This happened after Artem Sytnyk left him. He has been the director of NABU since 2015. First deputy Gizo Uhlava is temporarily acting as the head of the bureau.
On July 29, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal called on the commission to start selecting candidates for the position of NABU director as soon as possible. Before that, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for the appointment of the head of NABU.
