Every fifth Ukrainian works informally
The number of the informally employed population aged 15-70 in January-September 2020 was 3,275.5 thousand people. This is 20.5% of the total number of employed Ukrainians of this age (16,000,700).
This is reported by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
According to the statistics department, 3,316.4 thousand people worked informally among the population aged 15 and over.
The highest percentage of informally employed in agriculture is 45.2%, in construction – 16.8% and in trade – 15.7%. In industry, the share of informal employment is 5.5%.
According to the State Statistics Service, the number of informally employed population aged 15-70 years in 2019 in Ukraine was 3460.4 thousand people.
The number of employed people aged 15-70 was 15.9 million people. The number of unemployed people is 1.7 million people.
According to the survey data of the Razumkov Center, more than half of hired workers in Ukraine (59.8%) agree to work officially, but receive part of their salary “in an envelope”.
A survey of owners and top managers of Ukrainian companies conducted by KIIS shows that in 2018 45% of wages to employees were paid unofficially.
