The Latvian National Council for Electronic Mass Media excluded 20 Russian TV channels from the list of rebroadcasts in the country.

In particular, the following are excluded from the list: RT (Russia Today), RT HD, RT Arabic, RT Documentary, RT Documentary HD, RT TV, RT Spanish, “MIR 24”, “RBK-TV”, “Russia 24”, “Russia RTR”, TV Center International, “Time: far and near”, “Beaver”, “Dom Kino”, “Dom Kino Premium”, “Muzyka Pervogo”, “O!”, “Poekhaly”, “Telekafe” and “Petersburg – Channel 5”.
We would like to add that the broadcasting of these TV channels in Latvia was stopped earlier – for various legal reasons. For example, due to the fact that one of the beneficiaries of the work of TV channels, Yuriy Kovalchuk, was included in the list of sanctions of the European Union.
Other channels were turned off due to inciting hatred against the background of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine.
The council’s decision comes into force on September 1, it can be appealed in the administrative district court, but this does not stop the decision.
