President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi addressed the people of Poland on the 83rd anniversary of the beginning of the Second World War.
Details
“Already 83 years have separated us from that morning that brought the world to the brink of destruction. On September 1, 1939, at around four in the morning, the Polish city of Weliun was subjected to a terrible bombardment. Nazi Germany went to war against all free nations, starting with Poland. (…) People believed that it would be possible to avoid the repetition of those terrible crimes and such a cruel war. But there was such a morning again. Only on February 24, 2022, when bombs and rockets hit peaceful cities,” Zelenskyy said.
Zelensky emphasized that today the events in Velyun are repeated in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, the cities of Donbass and Mariupol, and what happened in Katyn – in Olenivka. He added that, unlike during the Second World War, “no one made criminal pacts” and Ukraine received help from international partners from the first minutes of the war.
“We will do everything so that Ukrainians, Poles, all the peoples of Europe live freely. So that every generation of peoples, people in general remembers what racism was and what racist executioners will be punished for. We will do everything so that the morning of September 1, the morning of June 22 and the morning of February 24 were not repeated. Never again. We will do everything so that hatred finally loses,” the president concluded.
Let’s add
In an address to the participants of the Venice Film Festival, Zelensky said that Russia wants the world to make three mistakes: get used to war, come to terms with war and forget about war.
