The current academic year will start without the traditional festive first bells and will be held according to the format chosen by the parents. This was reported by the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Serhiy Shkarlet .

“Despite the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on Ukrainian land, we are starting a new school year. For the first time since independence, the educational process is starting under martial law. Unfortunately, there will be no traditional festive events: the first bell for first-graders and the last first bell for graduating students.” – said Scarlett in Telegram.

The minister emphasized that “the safety of every child, every pedagogical worker is now in the first place.”
“Therefore, the educational process in the 2022/23 school year will take place in various forms chosen by parents,” – said Scarlett.
He also noted that in the previous academic year, which also ended during a full-scale war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, “all students were certified, graduates received documents on education, and students passed exams.”
“With joint efforts, we have ensured the continuity of the educational process. Now we face a new important task – to ensure the acquisition of education in a safe environment and psychological stability,” the minister emphasized.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy , addressed schoolchildren and students, noting that it is good that the school year is starting, albeit in different conditions.
