The Russian side, resorting to manipulations, may prevent the IAEA mission from visiting key facilities to be inspected on the territory of the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP. Such a position was expressed by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko on the air of the national telethon .
The minister noted that the Ukrainian side discussed with the representatives of the mission the relevant list of objects, and these proposals almost completely coincide with the assessments of IAEA experts.

“The key is for the Russians to really allow access to those objects that the mission aims to inspect. We understand that there can be manipulations: show some picture or make a route, where in fact the mission simply will not be able to see what is happening. And then, of course, it can cast doubt on the results,” Galushchenko noted, whose words were quoted by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

The minister emphasized that the current format of the mission’s work is new. “As a rule, the missions took place as a result of certain events at nuclear facilities. Today, the mission is taking place in advance in order to protect against the barbaric acts that Russia is committing at the ZNPP,” he said.
The official emphasized the importance of the mission implementing a broader agenda in the new work format: “First of all, in addition to the purely technical function, the mission has to show the threats to nuclear safety posed by the presence of the Russian armed forces, weapons and heavy equipment on the territory of the NPP.” .
At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Energy emphasized that the mission includes real experts in their field, who have considerable experience, and Ukraine appreciates their efforts aimed at ensuring the nuclear safety of not only our country, but the entire world.
The Ukrainian side expects that the results of the mission will be the de-occupation of the ZNPP, its return under the full control of Ukraine and further demilitarization of the territory around the plant, Galushchenko reminded.
Addition
On August 31, an IAEA mission left Kyiv for the ZNPP and arrived in Zaporizhzhia on its way to the Zaporizhzhia NPP captured by the Russian occupiers. She should work at the station until September 3.
On September 1, it became known that the Russians are shelling the agreed route of the IAEA mission from Zaporizhzhia to the ZNPP, as well as the satellite city of the ZNPP – Energodar . It was reported that despite the shelling, the IAEA mission went to Energodar.
The IAEA is expected to provide a clear statement of the facts of Russia’s violation of all nuclear safety protocols at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.
