More than 80% of Hungarians do not support EU sanctions banning the entry of Russians, and do not agree with the supply of weapons to Ukraine by EU member states. This is evidenced by the results of a survey by the Századvég analytical center .

“As it turned out, the already introduced sanctions did not live up to expectations, and instead plunged the EU member states into a crisis, as attempts to abandon Russian energy sources led to an increase in the prices of oil, electricity and gas,” the report said.

The survey results indicate that 81% of the population opposes the EU and its member states sending weapons to Ukraine. The same number of people oppose the ban on the entry of Russian tourists. Only 16% and 17% of respondents agree with these two propositions.
“The majority of Hungarians want to see peace in their neighboring countries, however, in their opinion, arming Ukraine has the opposite effect, and in fact it contributes to the continuation of the war, which leads to further human casualties and the weakening of the European economy due to the generation of military inflation,” – said in research
It is also emphasized that the absence of Russian tourists will negatively affect the income from European tourism and, accordingly, the economic indicators.
The majority of respondents (78%) do not support the ban on the import of Russian oil to Europe, the training of the Ukrainian military by the European Union (77%). 75% of the population do not support the ban on the import of Russian gas and the final withdrawal from Russian gas, and 74% support the ban on the import of Russian fuel and raw materials for nuclear power plants.
Hungarians are also against the ban on the import of Russian coal – 71%. Another 70% of respondents do not support the ban on the transportation of goods and services from Russia to Europe. About 68% do not support the ban on Russian civilian aircraft in Europe, and 67% consider it inappropriate to ban the sale of European goods and services to Russia.
The results of the survey show that only one of the punishment measures enjoys the support of the majority: 57% of respondents agree with freezing the assets of Russian billionaires and oligarchs, and 37% do not agree with it.

The ministers of foreign affairs of the EU countries agreed to suspend the visa facilitation agreement with Russia from 2007 against the background of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
