As reported, the 8th meeting of the Ukraine-EU Association Council will be held in Brussels on September 5.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell are declared co-chairs.
The Ukraine-EU Association Council is scheduled to start at 12:15 local time. A press conference is expected after the meeting (at approximately 3:30 p.m.).
The Association Council will discuss the bilateral agenda between Ukraine and the EU, in particular the implementation of the Association Agreement and the current state of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU. EU support since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression, as well as Ukraine’s application for EU membership, will also be discussed.
During the closed meeting, representatives of the EU and Ukraine will exchange views on the situation that arose after the Russian war of aggression, as well as global and regional issues.

In accordance with the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, the Ukraine-EU Association Council was established in 2014. Meetings of the Ukraine-EU Association Council are held at least once a year, as well as when circumstances require it. Meetings of the Association Council traditionally take place on the territory of the EU (the cities of Brussels or Luxembourg). The first meeting of the Association Council took place on December 15, 2014 in the city of Brussels.
