Australian artist Peter Seaton painted on the wall of a house in Melbourne a Ukrainian and a Russian soldier, who are depicted in an embrace. However, due to the negative reaction of the public, he had to paint over the mural. This was reported by the Russian BBC service .
Details
According to the artist, his work symbolized a call for a peaceful settlement of relations between the two countries, and he did not want to hurt anyone.
Seaton apologized for his work and emphasized that he did not think “that it would be so badly received”.
Critics said that this picture shows a false moral equality of the two sides.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia Vasyl Miroshnychenko called Seaton’s work “extremely offensive to all Ukrainians.”
