If there is not enough gas in the winter, the Swiss federal government wants to take tough measures. Anyone who breaks the rules faces imprisonment or a fine.

In houses heated with gas, the temperature inside the premises should not exceed 19 degrees. Hot water should be heated only to 60 degrees. Radiant heaters or warm air tents will be prohibited. Saunas and swimming pools must remain cold.
In case of deliberate actions, punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to three years or a fine is possible. Even in case of negligent violation of measures, a fine of up to 180 daily rates is provided.
This is provided for in the federal law on national economic security, to which the Department of Economic Affairs (EAER) directly refers in an official document.
