Ukraine purchased from France 155-mm towed TRF1 howitzers, which are no longer in service with the French army. This is reported by the French publication L’Opinion , citing its own sources .

This time, France will not hand over the Caesar to Ukraine, but the older TRF1 model. These two machines have the same caliber (155 mm), but unlike the Caesar, the TRF1 is a towed gun and not mounted on a truck, writes L’Opinion.
The TRF1 howitzer was first introduced at the Satory arms show in 1979 and was produced by GIAT from 1984 to 1993. This artillery weapon is able to move independently at a speed of 8 km/h, has an autoloader. It is noted that in the French army it replaced the 155-mm howitzer Modele 50.
The TRF1 has a range of 24 kilometers with conventional projectiles and 30 kilometers with rockets, and a rate of fire of 6 rounds per minute.
France will replace the TRF1 self-propelled artillery installation CAESAR, reports the publication.
