The United States intends next month to expand restrictions on shipments to China of American semiconductors in the field of artificial intelligence and means for the production of microcircuits.

The US Department of Commerce plans to publish new rules that would prohibit the sale of equipment for the creation of microcircuits to Chinese factories that produce certain types of next-generation semiconductors in the absence of an appropriate license from the US authorities. In addition, it will be prohibited to supply chips for artificial intelligence to China without a license from the department.
Agency sources say that the Ministry of Trade may include additional restrictions or make changes to the discussed restrictions. The department, as a rule, in the case of introducing such sanctions, often rejects applications for obtaining a license.
