French film director Jean-Luc Godard died on September 13 at the age of 91.
Circumstances and causes of death have not yet been announced.
Jean-Luc Godard is one of the founders of the French “new wave”, a direction in cinematography in the 1950s and 1960s. His film “On the last breath” with Jean-Paul Belmondo is called a “new wave” manifesto.
Godard has won numerous awards, including the Silver Bear for Best Director for Last Breath in 1960, and a special Palme d’Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival for The Picture Book. He also received two honorary César Awards in 1987 and 1998 and an honorary Oscar in 2010.
The director’s last film “The Book of Image” was released in 2018.
