The Dnipropetrovsk regional prosecutor’s office has informed the former head of the correctional center in Dnipro of suspicion of official negligence, which led to environmental pollution with losses to the state of more than 34 million hryvnias.

“Under the procedural leadership of the Dnipropetrovsk regional prosecutor’s office, the former head of the correctional center in the city of Dnipro was notified of suspicion of official negligence that caused serious consequences (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the message reads.

According to the investigation, the head of the colony allowed the enterprise to dump solid household waste into a pit on the adjacent territory. At the same time, he knew that waste was illegally dumped and stored on open ground, the Prosecutor General’s Office notes.
Experts established that the official negligence of the head of the colony led to the pollution of the environment with household waste, with losses to the state of more than 34 million hryvnias.
