During the inspection of the outskirts of Izyum, liberated from the Ukrainian army, numerous burials of dead local residents were found. Serhiy Bolvinov, head of the investigative department of the Kharkiv Oblast police, and Oleg Kotenko, the commissioner for issues of missing persons, told about this on Thursday .

Serhii Bolvinov said that the dead included both Ukrainian military personnel and civilians. They died for various reasons: as a result of shelling, from explosions, and some were shot. It is still too early to say about the identification of the dead – the exhumation has only just begun. All wooden crosses have numbers. The approximate number of dead is 440 bodies.
Oleg Kotenko said that the funeral was previously filmed by the Russian military, and after they left Izyum, Ukrainians already knew where to look for it.

“Somewhere there is a register in which, I think, they will tell us where they took this body for burial, what kind of person it is and why he was given a number and not a surname,” reported the Commissioner for Missing Persons.
As the correspondent of Radio Svoboda reported, among the buried there are soldiers of the Armed Forces (their graves are signed “ASU”), mass graves, families – who are buried on the same date, and civilians.
