Today, the second case of monkeypox was registered in Ukraine. Currently, the patient has been hospitalized with the following symptoms: high fever, rash on the face, mouth, and hands .
Details
According to the patient, the rash appeared at the end of August. However, the appeal to the hospital took place a few days ago, the Ministry of Health reported.
The agency called on anyone who has symptoms similar to monkeypox to seek medical help immediately and self-isolate. This is important so as not to put other people at risk.
Let’s add
The first case of the relevant disease was registered on September 15. According to preliminary data, these cases are not related to each other.
The Ministry of Health also reported that PCR tests were delivered to Ukraine in July as part of humanitarian aid to conduct at least 5,000 tests to diagnose the specified disease. Then they were divided into regions. Currently, in Ukraine, it is possible to detect this disease in each region.
During the treatment of monkeypox, Ukrainian doctors use approved WHO recommendations and international protocols for diagnosis and detection of the relevant disease.
Given the fact that specific drugs are currently unavailable to the general public, it is primarily a matter of symptomatic treatment. Back in May, all regional Centers for Disease Control and Prevention received instructions from the Ministry of Health regarding surveillance, investigation of cases, and contact tracing.
Until 2022, monkeypox was recorded in Central and West African countries, while currently more than half of all recorded cases are in South and North America.
