After the end of the war in Ukraine, in order to continue to exist, pro-Russian parties will change their rhetoric and the format of their ideology. However, there is a high probability that they will continue to work in the interests of the Kremlin, and therefore lustration is necessary in post-war Ukraine.

“It is clear that OPZZ and other similar parties in the form they were before the war will no longer exist. Now all “cotton” will be for peace and reconstruction of Ukraine. However, this will not change the fact that they will continue to be able to work for the Kremlin. Of course, now they will not be openly pro-Russian, so they will look for some alternative ideologies. But at the same time, they will continue to work for Russia and draw their influence from populist Russian television and Russian YouTube channels,” Davidyuk said.
For this, according to the political scientist, after the end of the war in Ukraine, it will be necessary to conduct a lustration of officials who worked for Russia.
“This is a lustration that should have been conducted in the 90s, as was done in the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia, but was not conducted in our country. And all those who handed over flash drives, made concessions in favor of our enemy, should now at least be censored. In the best case, cases should be opened if there is evidence of such cooperation. If there is only suspicion, they should be subject to lustration,” the political scientist believes.
However, there are exceptions among these categories of officials. For example, those who before the war were part of the “Party of Regions” or OPZZH, but did not act in the interests of the Kremlin, and with the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia into the territory of Ukraine, took up arms or began to manage settlements in order to protect them from the Russian invasion. According to Davidyuk, this category of officials should not be subject to lustration.
At the expense of pro-Russian television and YouTube channels in Ukraine, they will also change the names and format of propaganda.
