On Thursday, the Seimas of Lithuania urgently adopted an amendment to the law providing for a temporary ban on Russian and Belarusian television and radio programs in the country.

The Lithuanian Parliament temporarily banned Belarusian and Russian TV and radio programs. 113 deputies voted for the amendment, none voted against it, four parliamentarians abstained. The amendment provides for a temporary ban on the retransmission and distribution of radio programs, television programs or individual programs on the Internet, created by persons who are directly or indirectly managed, controlled or financed by Russia and Belarus.
This provision will be in effect until October 16, 2024.
