The National Security Service of Ukraine announced that it had identified the Russian commander who ordered the torture of Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied Kherson .

According to the SBU investigation, since March, Naumenko has been in charge of Russian Guard servicemen and representatives of illegal armed formations of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied Kherson. “According to his orders, illegal detention and torture of local residents, penetration into their homes and possession of property take place,” the SBU emphasized.
It has been established that he personally participated in the dispersal of peaceful rallies in Kherson. He gave orders to use stun grenades and tear gas against Ukrainian citizens, the special service added. There were victims among the Kherson people.
“In addition, on his instructions, the Russian military abducted two Ukrainians and brutally tortured them for several weeks. They tried to extract from them information about the soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and their locations, as well as incited them to cooperate with the occupiers,” the SBU said.
Currently, Colonel Naumenko has been charged with suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
