Details
The number of calls to the hotline of the Ministry of Reintegration has increased from residents of temporarily occupied territories asking how to avoid participation in pseudo-referendums and avoid joining the enemy army.
“One of these came from the wife of a rescuer from Energodar. She said that her husband and his colleagues are patriots and are not going to cooperate with the invaders in any way. They stay in the city until the end, because the specifics of their service require it. On the other hand, the occupiers forbade leaving the city. People don’t know what to do,” the message reads.
The Ministry of Reintegration reminded that any decision in which the results of pseudo-referendums will be recorded is null and void. And also gave a number of tips:
– Try not to take part in them and by all available means create obstacles in its implementation. Do not help the Russians to create even the slightest illusion of legitimacy of such “measures”. Remember that active participation in them will be criminally punished.
– All citizens of Ukraine who do not take part in hostilities and are on the TOT are under the protection of the Fourth Geneva Convention on the Protection of the Civilian Population in Time of War of August 12, 1949. It provides that the occupying power has no right to compel protected persons to serve in its armed or auxiliary forces.
– The occupiers are prohibited from demanding any change in the personnel or structure of medical organizations and civil protection institutions, which may negatively affect their humanitarian activities.
– However, Russia neglects its obligations under international humanitarian law, so the only way to protect itself is to leave the temporarily occupied territories.
