The US House of Representatives has finally approved a bill on temporary state funding, which provides for the allocation of financial assistance for Ukraine in the amount of $ 12.3 billion.
Details
The vote took place mostly along party lines, supported by 230 members of the House of Representatives, including 10 members of the Republican Party, 201 congressmen opposed, all of them Republicans. The temporary funding bill was passed by Congress than half a day before the deadline when the fiscal year ends in the U.S. and, in the absence of approved funding, a shutdown is announced (forced suspension of government agencies).
By the end of Friday, the bill is expected to be signed by the President of the United States of America Joe Biden, and it will take effect.
Supplement
The day before, the temporary funding bill was voted on by the US Senate. It includes a package of assistance to Ukraine in its fight against the Russian occupiers. This includes $ 3 billion in military assistance, including training, equipment, weapons and logistics support, $ 1.5 billion to replenish stocks of US equipment provided to Ukraine or foreign countries that have provided support, and $ 2.8 billion to continue military, intelligence and other defense support. An additional $35 million will be used to fund the response to “potential nuclear and radiological incidents” in Ukraine and to prevent the theft of these materials.
