Turkey does not accept Russia’s annexation of the occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions of Ukraine. This is stated in the statement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry of September 30.
Details
The country’s Foreign Ministry stressed that Turkey “did not recognize the annexation of Crimea by Russia in an illegitimate referendum in 2014 and each time emphasized its firm support for the territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of Ukraine.”
“In accordance with this position adopted in 2014, we reject Russia’s decision to annex Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions of Ukraine. This decision, which is a gross violation of the established principles of international law, cannot be taken,” Turkey said in a statement.
The country’s Foreign Ministry noted that it again declares “support for the outbreak of this war, the severity of which continues to grow, on the basis of a just peace that will be achieved through negotiations.”
